The Challenge

North Dublin needs more affordable, secure homes. The challenge was to support a large-scale development that responds to that demand, while creating a sustainable mixed-tenure community with long-term social and economic benefits. The scheme required close collaboration between partners and careful planning for the long-term management of a significant apartment development.

The Approach

Harman's Rest is being delivered through collaboration between Oaklee, Fingal County Council and private sector development partners. The scheme includes:

163 new homes across three purpose-built apartment blocks
A mix of social and Cost Rental homes supporting a range of housing needs
68 Cost Rental apartments in Block C, owned and managed by Oaklee for the long term
A transit-connected location close to rail, bus services and local amenities
A-rated apartments with fitted kitchens, white goods, laminated flooring and fitted wardrobes

The Outcome

Harman's Rest is Oaklee's second Cost Rental scheme, following the delivery of 154 Cost Rental homes at The Sidings in Adamstown. It is one of the largest developments in Oaklee's pipeline and adds to Oaklee's growing Cost Rental programme. By expanding housing supply in north Dublin, it will help create a sustainable mixed-tenure community in Donabate.
