Oaklee completes purchase of 53 new homes at Meadow Mill, Athy

Kildare: Oaklee has completed the purchase of 53 new homes at Meadow Mill, Geraldine Road, Athy, Co. Kildare, marking another important milestone in the organisation’s continued delivery of high-quality homes across Ireland.

A further 9 homes at Meadow Mill are expected to follow later in 2026, bringing Oaklee’s total acquisition at the development to 62 homes. The acquisition reflects Oaklee’s commitment to delivering homes to build futures in, high-quality, well-located homes delivered at scale, with purpose, efficiency and strong partnership.

The 53 homes form part of a wider residential development close to Athy town centre and include a mix of duplexes and apartments, comprising 26 two-bedroom duplexes, 8 three-bedroom duplexes, 18 one-bedroom apartments within a duplex block, and 1 two-bedroom terraced house.

Oaklee acknowledges the support of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Housing Finance Agency, the Housing Agency, Kildare County Council, and the developer, Quantum Group, for their support in enabling the delivery of these homes.

Located in the historic town of Athy, Meadow Mill benefits from access to local schools, retail, primary care services, sports and leisure amenities, and strong public transport links, including regular rail services on the Dublin-Waterford line. The town’s location at the meeting point of the River Barrow and the Grand Canal also provides access to walking, cycling and outdoor recreation, including the Barrow Blueway.

Helen Moore, Director of Development at Oaklee, said:

“The completion of the purchase of these first 53 homes at Meadow Mill is another important milestone in Oaklee’s delivery programme and reflects what we mean when we talk about delivering homes to build futures in. These are high-quality, well-located homes that will make a meaningful contribution to housing delivery in Athy and provide secure homes for households in Co. Kildare.

“Meadow Mill also demonstrates the strength of partnership required to deliver at scale and with purpose. I want to acknowledge the important support of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Housing Finance Agency, The Housing Agency, Kildare County Council, and Quantum Group in helping to bring these homes forward.

“With a further 9 homes at Meadow Mill expected to follow later this year, and a strong wider pipeline progressing across 2026, our focus remains on continuing to deliver efficiently and responsibly, while ensuring that every home we provide supports people, families and communities to build their futures.”

Annette Aspell, Director of Housing, Regeneration and People with Kildare County Council highlighted:

"The delivery of these new homes at Meadow Mill represents a significant addition to housing supply in Athy and an important step in supporting the town’s continued growth and development. This development demonstrates the strong collaboration between Kildare County Council and Oaklee in progressing the delivery of high-quality homes in locations where they are most needed."

Oaklee will continue to work with Kildare County Council and relevant partners as preparations progress for the occupation of the homes.
